The occurrence of children having children is an all too familiar one in our nation. The epidemic of teenage pregnancy is robbing our youth of a happy fulfilling future. The negative consequences that go with the experience are physically, emotionally and financially costly for the individuals directly involved, as well as the community as a whole.
The problem must be addressed with special attention to the many needs of those affected and the diverse factors that contribute to the problem.
With that philosophy in mind, Rosalie Manor Community & Family Services created the Families United to Prevent Teen Pregnancy (FUPTP) program curriculum.
Families United to Prevent Teen Pregnancy is based on the premise that by providing primary prevention activities that promote abstinence combined with a life skills approach, FUPTP will reduce the incidence of pregnancy among and improve life opportunities for participating at-risk youth.
This is accomplished by offering a multi-faceted program working not only with youth between the ages of 9 to 18 years, but also with their families.
